Meet    Our  Founders
Co-founder, Elaina Hanley

Born and raised in Brevard County, Elaina is excited to serve her community through founding Okie Dokie Cafe. For the last three years, she has worked as a pediatric Occupational Therapist, helping children and young adults with disabilities gain greater independence in life skills. While she has loved this role, she feels it is time to shift her focus to a significant need in her community - gainful, meaningful employment for adults with disabilities.

Growing up with a brother with Down Syndrome, Caraline has been around the disability community all her life. She put that passion to use as a special education teacher at Rockledge High School for 5 years. While she found fulfillment through teaching, she could not ignore the struggles her brother faced in the workforce. This spurred her into action to create a space where individuals with disabilities can experience the human right of meaningful employment.

The Need

In Brevard County, like much of the nation, individuals with disabilities face significantly higher unemployment rates and lower labor force participation compared to those without disabilities. In 2024, the national employment-population ratio for people with a disability was 22.7 percent, in stark contrast to 65.5 percent for those without a disability.
